Welcome!

This part of the NaniJani website has been established in order to document the activities of Janet Woodhead during her participation in Stafford College's TICATEC European Exchange scheme, a residential study course based in Slovakia during August/September 2004.

Janet together with 5 other students were studying Machine Embroidery and Fine Arts in the UK. During their stay in the historic Slovakian town of Stropkov they were shown a variety of textile based Slovakian crafts which they then used to produce their own work.

This site provided regular reports on the activities of Janet and the participants which you can now read in the NEWS ARCHIVE.

Back Home Having Learned Lots And Having Made New Friends

Janet Woodhead Writes:

My trip to Slovakia was unexpectedly brought to a close two weeks before the end, (Don't worry it was nothing serious!) so it is now time for me to say a few "Thank you's" to all concerned

First I must say thanks to Grampus Heritage for allowing me to take part in this venture. particularly to Mark and Pat for their help when I needed them.

Martin and Michael for their devotion to duty in being our guides and interpreters during our stay

Good luck to both in their future studies.

Thanks to Miro and his wife Anna for guiding us so expertly through this adventure, and for providing such an interesting programme.

Thanks to our teachers for their expertise, to the staff of The Cultural Centre for the use of the computers, and their kindness and availability

Many thanks to the Archaeology students with whom we shared our accommodation, they made our stay so interesting and enjoyable.

Thanks to my travelling companions for putting up with a "Techno Granny"

And finally special thanks to the "Best driver in the world" Mathew for getting me to the airport safely..

Due tothe kindness of all of these people this was a trip that I shall never forget and I can recommend this course to anyone considering enroling on it.

Djakoejeme!
